🔬Anthropic Commits $150M to Genesis Mission, Puts Claude in 15+ Agencies
Your federal science projects just got Claude access
TL;DR
Anthropic is putting $150 million over three years into the Genesis Mission, giving Claude, Claude Code, and API credits to several hundred federal research projects across 15+ agencies. If you build tools for national labs or academic science, the tooling and credits landscape just shifted.
Anthropic is putting $150 million over three years into the Genesis Mission, and the goal is simple: get Claude into the hands of researchers at federal agencies and national labs. The announcement came at the Science: A New Golden Age Summit hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Why should you care? If you build for scientific computing, this is a big deal. Anthropic will provide Claude, Claude Code, and API credits to several hundred Genesis Mission research projects. It is also working closely with agencies on fusion energy and quantum computing, and offering training, onboarding, and technical support to get projects running. Agencies new to the program get hands-on help with their first projects. The numbers: $150 million total, spread across three years, covering agencies including NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation. This builds on a December partnership with the Department of Energy, where Anthropic already brought Claude to scientists across national laboratories. Earlier this year Anthropic also launched Claude Science, an AI workbench, opened 10,000 free or discounted seats for academic scientists, and kicked off a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard for AI agents operating lab instruments.
