1. Information We Collect

We collect:

  • What you give us: name, email, and any preferences you set (topic interests, role, seniority).
  • What your browser tells us: timezone (so we can email you at a reasonable hour) and language.
  • Country, derived from your IP address at signup. We use a third-party service (country.is, backed by MaxMind GeoLite2) to look up the country your IP belongs to. We store only the two-letter country code (e.g. "US", "IN"). We do not store your raw IP address, your city, or any precise location data on your subscription record.
  • Email engagement signals: opens, clicks, bounces, and unsubscribes — used to keep our deliverability healthy and to improve content.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Deliver the newsletter and account-related emails.
  • Show you content (jobs, news, tools) that's relevant to your country and interests.
  • Send the newsletter at a reasonable time for your timezone.
  • Detect abuse and protect the service.

3. Third-Party Services

  • country.is — receives your IP address once at signup so we can look up your country. They use MaxMind GeoLite2 data and may keep request logs per their own policy.
  • SendGrid (Twilio) — delivers our emails and reports opens/bounces.
  • Google Analytics — only when you accept our cookie banner.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Your Rights

  • Edit: change your country, timezone, and language any time in account settings.
  • Unsubscribe: use the link at the bottom of any email, or the unsubscribe page.
  • Export your data: request a copy from account settings.
  • Delete your account: from account settings, or by contacting support.

EU/UK residents have additional rights under GDPR/UK GDPR (access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). California residents have rights under CCPA/CPRA. Email support@contentbuffer.com to exercise any of these.

5. Data Retention

We keep subscriber data only as long as your subscription is active. If you unsubscribe, we delete the associated profile, country, timezone, language, and consent record within 90 days. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics may be kept longer.

6. Age

This service is not intended for users under 16. If you believe a minor has subscribed, contact support@contentbuffer.com and we will delete the account.

7. Consent Records

When you subscribe we keep a record of when you accepted this policy and which version was in effect. EU/UK subscribers see an explicit consent prompt before completing signup, as required by GDPR.
