The trial against Live Nation-Ticketmaster has reached a verdict, with the jury finding the company liable on three counts: illegally monopolizing the market for live event ticketing, amphitheaters, and tying its concert promotions business with venue usage. This is a significant blow to the company's dominance in the industry. Despite offering a superior service recognized by some customers, Live Nation was found to have used implicit threats of pulling concerts unless venues used their ticketing services. The jury also found that Ticketmaster had overcharged consumers by $1.72 per ticket. With 34 out of 40 attorneys general who went to trial deciding to continue with the litigation, this verdict is a major win for the states. The next phase of the remedies trial will determine the total damages owed by the company.
