🦀Servo 0.7.0 Lands 527 Commits, Adds Typed CSS Math and <progress>

Servo just got real enough to test your sites on

TL;DR

Servo 0.7.0 is out with 527 commits from September, new CSS typed arithmetic, a JS-evaluating devtools console, and a faster memory profile. Candy Crush now runs in it. If you embed web views, the focus and throttling APIs changed, so check your code before upgrading.

Servo 0.7.0 is out with 527 commits from September, and the change that matters most sits in the embedding API. WebView::set_throttled is gone. Throttling now kicks in automatically when a view is hidden, and you have to call WebView::set_focused yourself whenever focus shifts. Miss that and your focus state quietly drifts. If you're building on Servo as an embedder, read the migration notes first. The notify_focus_changed delegate method is removed too. New hooks like WebView::clear_session_history and Servo::forward_accessibility_action give you more control, and the Cargo feature multprocess now enables multiprocess mode at build time. The web platform work is broad. Servo added :checked, user-select, the <progress> element, CSS typed arithmetic, alpha(), and font-width. It also picked up MLKEM768-X25519 in WebCrypto, roundRect() on canvas, and getCueAsHTML() on VTTCue. Performance got real attention too: memory use dropped through buffer reuse, and a long-running audio and video leak is fixed. Honestly, the Candy Crush demo is the most fun proof point in the release.
