🚗Uber Logged Just Four AI Agent Rides During Its Busiest Week
Your AI agent still can't order your Uber
TL;DR
Personal AI agents are barely ordering rides or food. Uber logged only four agent-initiated rides during its busiest October week, out of roughly 320 million trips and orders. Every AI company is calling Uber anyway, so expect the volume to change fast.
Agents are everywhere in pitch decks and almost nowhere in real transactions. During the week of Halloween, Uber handled around 320 million trips and orders across Uber and Uber Eats. Only four rides came through an AI agent. Uber Eats did a bit better, with about 500 orders placed by agents. If you build checkout or booking flows, this is your early warning. Agents will eventually be the ones tapping the buttons, so your APIs need to be ready. For now, though, the agent isn't the bottleneck. Booking a ride in Uber's app takes 50 seconds on average, and re-ordering a favorite food takes 90. That's already quick enough that a chatbot adds little. The numbers are tiny, but the pipeline is not. Instinct, a personal AI startup founded last year, last raised at a $10 billion valuation. Meta's Muse hit No. 1 in Apple's U.S. App Store last month with over 10 million users, many of them shopping. DoorDash has only received a few hundred agent orders so far. Around eight major assistants exist today, and that number is expected to pass 10. Watch whether agent traffic turns from curiosity into habit. Uber says every AI system company is talking to it, so the integrations are arriving ahead of the demand.
