Yara Reads, a free phonics practice app for kids, launched at yarareads.finereli.com. The app helps children who have just learned phonics sounds to practice reading. Every word in a story can be sounded out with the sounds the child already knows, and the app includes a feature where the child can tap a word and its sound buttons appear. The app is built to accommodate multiple stories, with the first story written by the app's creator's big brother. The app checks every word in a story against the child's known sounds, pronunciation, and spelling. The app is a Cloudflare Worker with static assets, D1 for data, and R2 for pictures, and it works signed out, with sounds and progress kept in the browser. If you're teaching a child phonics, this app could be a valuable tool for practice and reinforcement.
