On July 27, 2026 Moonshot AI released the open weights for Kimi K3 under a Modified MIT license. It is a 2.8-trillion-parameter Mixture-of-Experts model with a 1,048,576-token context window and native vision, and it landed at number one on the LMArena Frontend Code leaderboard at 1,679 points, ahead of several frontier proprietary models. That combination of open weights plus arena-topping tool and coding ability is why it is the model everyone is wiring into agents this week.
