EKS Now Supports Kubernetes Version Rollbacks
Amazon EKS now supports rolling back Kubernetes versions if upgrades cause problems. Teams can revert the cluster's control plane to its previous state within seven days, ensuring quick recovery without losing etcd data or workloads. This is a game-changer for teams that previously had to adopt lengthy upgrade cycles and manual safety measures due to the lack of rollback capabilities in Kubernetes. Rollbacks are available at no additional cost since July 26, 2026, and apply to all EKS clusters.
