🔌Google Opens Connected Apps Platform to 50+ Apps Inside Gemini and Search

Your app could show up inside Gemini next

Google wants AI to be the front door to your app. Its new Connected Apps Platform lets users link services like Canva and YouTube Music to Gemini and Search, then get things done without ever opening the app itself. Design a flyer or build a playlist from a single prompt. If you ship a consumer product, this changes your distribution math. Google says the goal is to move people away from launching individual apps and toward using their favorite services through whichever AI they already trust. Developers can choose whether their app shows up in Search, the Gemini app, or both, and they keep control of verified logos and authenticated accounts. Integration runs through a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android MCP using the AppFunctions APIs. The numbers so far: over 50 Connected Apps are live in Gemini, including partners Adobe, Experian, and Peloton. Google Search already features Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music, with more arriving over the next few weeks. Calm is the newest partner and will launch on both surfaces soon. The platform is in beta for U.S. developers, and access is through a waitlist. Google hasn't said when broader availability arrives. Watch for that date, because the platform only pays off if there are enough apps for people to actually explore.
